Intellectual Inferiority

The New Republic in its 1/9/2011 issue has an entry, "Rating Obama" where it asks prominent intellectuals where they stand on the president. Amazingly all but one supported Obama in 2008. They all, by and large, still admire Obama and call him progressive, charming, etc.

The midterm elections and almost two years of presidency show is a failed presidency, a highly likely single term president, a microscopic recovery, huge unemployment and many other elements of dysfunctionality. Obama also turned to be way more center-right than center and in any event almost anti-progressive. (Romney health care, which Obama enacted, is not progressive at all.) His negotiation skills are non existent and don't seem to improve; his postpartisanship vision is sophomoric if not idiotic; his intelligence does not rise above average; his problem solution skills are zero.

Yet, our intellectuals are not affected. Since I wouldn't claim that their intelligence is suspect, I am claiming that as members of the elite, class and money wise, blinds them to reality. Their blinds suffocates their intellect. The silliest argument was raised by Paul Berman: he was a Hillary supporter who got convinced by Obama's two years that Hillary would have been a failure. Simple magic that goes like that: President Hillary would have brought Clintonites to most government positions. Yet, many of Obama's people are Clintonites. Since Obama failed, therefore, Hillary would have been an even greater failure. QED.

You see this "proof" ignores the role and importance of the president. Hillary is wise, supports the poor and middle class. Obama is average elitist. My QED.

It's winter daylight in Antarctica in America or in plain English we are 24 hours a day in darkness in this country.
