Shirley Sherrod was Fired

Now everyone knows now that Shirley Sherrod is not a racist. Even the usually slow Obama was fast and furious at rebuking her first. So, Obama and Vilsac fired Ms Sherrod right away. Now she is a fine person again and will get a job in the administration that fired her in the first place.

Suppose Ms Sherrod, or any other government employee, turns out to be an active racist. For example, that person walks in front of the Agriculture Department during her/his lunch break with a sign saying: "Send all brown people back to Mexico." Actually there are way too many people that say that repeatedly, most of them Republicans and quite a few Democrats. Now, should a racist person be fired for being a racist? In China the answer is probably yes. However, the US claims to be a democratic pluralistic society, which implies that everyone is entitled to her/his views even if some reactionary shows a video of the person carrying the hateful sign.

Anti Blacks, anti Brown, anti Yellow and antisemitic people will be unemployed. That is probably about 50% of the population.
