What's Obama's record so far?
- The selection of Biden as VP turns out to be a failure. He didn't bring any bounce with it. After Palin's selection by McCain, a stronger selection by Obama would have made a huge difference. Of course, selecting Hillary would have made Palin look like a high school students. But any other strong selection such as: Wes Clark or Janet Napolitano, would have contributed to the ticket way more than Biden does.
- Postpartisanship: One of the ideas that brought Obama many voters in the primaries is postpartisanship. Politically, the idea is naive if not downright meaningless and stupid. Democracy is built on the foundation of disagreement and the benefit it brings to the system. Only strange animals such as Broder and Nunn (no gays in the military) tend to support it.
After the Republican convention, even mentioning ppostpartisanship seems ridiculous. Republicans are extremists who are convinced that Bush’s programs are great and they run on the promise to continue them; of course they use the term change to indicate that nothing is going to change. Are those the people we want to partner with?
Clearly, Obama's idea here is DOA.
- Get Evangelical and religious votes: Obama started to talk about faith and even went to the Saddleback church in order to gain votes from Evangelicals and other religious groups.
After Palin's selection, we all realized that "her" people were never open to Obama; it was all in his imagination.
Why would we want those people with us? They are pro-life to the extreme, they are right winger and they claim that their religion makes them oppose any reasonable solution to 20 million undocumented workers and their families.
Their anti immigrant stand puts in question their religiosity; they simply sound like right wing extremist and the religion is just a nice excuse.
Obama was pursuing this group with no success or chances for one.
Without evaluating Obama's current campaign, it is clear that he does earn a passing grade so far.
