The Evolution of the Republican Party

In 2000 after Gore seemed coming out victorious in Florida, Republican have sent their pre-Tea Party troopers to disrupt the counting and throw the results of the election from the legal one person-one vote into the Republican leaning courts. The troopers were violent, noisy and consisted mainly of GOP congressional staffers that were sent to Florida by the party leadership.

In a country with slightly more independent press, this crude and violent attack on the election process would have resulted in a terrible backlash. Almost for sure, it would have succeeded in blocking the violent disruption of the election. In case the disruption of counting would have been succeeded, it's doubtful that the Spanish Inquisition half of the supreme court would have gone along in the face of national disgust and may be protest.

The George W period has ushered in the first sign of the Sovietization of the Republican party. Lies became constantly repeated "truth." A distinct nomenklatura consisting of only the very rich was developed, Fox TV took the place of Pravda and Izvestia, the party had basically a single voice with any straying given the dog treatment and the written law was ignored and violated regularly.

W's new way was extremely successful despite the terrible failure of most the policies and actions taken by his gang. The Democrats behaved like democracy seeking Russian in the Soviet era intellectuals, they basically complained almost mutely and, in many cases, were frightened enough to join the Communists. It didn't help that Nader proclaimed that Republicans and Democrats are essentially indentical; it provided cover for the scared and frightened that rush into the warm embrace of the party secretary Cheney.

George W presidency ended with world wide financial disaster. A Democrat replaced him in the White House, but the Communist still managed to win more than 40% of the population. It sounds infeasible after such colossal disaster. Mind you, the interests and desires of about 1% of the population was supported by almost half the voters. Amazing.

Obama came in to lead the armies of the fast moving forces while the opposition though in retreat continued to promised to win the war. It was the right time to take over large segments of the opposition by continued fight. Bringing the previous law breakers to justice ASAP. Expose the evil that caused the disaster. Dismantle the remnants of the old regime, attack the remaining forces on all front. The Republicans were bracing themselves for the worst; they looked pathetic. Obama, ignoring the obvious, did none of the above. I want to be your friend, he said to the Republicans. Well, Republicans know history, they remember the Bolsheviks vs the Mensheviks fight and outcome. They started to regroup and in true history went on the offensive.

The Republicans turned Leninists. The one who said “The worse, the better.” Republican become obstructionist, saying no to everything, portraying every Democratic action as a absolute, terrible and fatal disaster. The semi-comatose press said nothing. The Democrats led by a novice driven by awfully wrong instincts didn't response to the rockets falling all over them; this latter reaction was baffling, alarming and immensely costly. The historically predicted Democratic reaction sawed the seeds of a potential Republican immediate resurrection from the politically insignificant. It turn a real health care reform from a 3-4 months effort into a partial and expensive reform that took more than a year and left a huge unemployment, obviously the real priority issue, to fester and worsen. Leninism has once again shown its mastery over the meek and slow.

The troopers of 2000 didn't seem as a good fit for a wide open fighting. They evolved into the less identifiable and even deniable, wider ranging and better run Tea Party. One shouldn't consider facts accidental, the mostly male organization is ready for a fight, a male dominated activity. Many extremists political groups have their own version of storm troopers; the Republicans have arrived at end of the political tethered extreme. Theirs has a new level of sophistication, the Tea Baggers pretend to be independent of the mother party. Actually, it's the extreme right of the party ready to fight not only the outsiders but also the different, non conforming, insiders, e.g. Charlie Crist.

Is the next step in the Republican evolution a dictatorship?
