The consensus is that Daschle is a capable person, bright and the best fit to lead towards a much widely covering of health care for the American people.
One couldn't be more mistaken that. As minority leader, Daschle opened the door to capitulation of the Democrats to the Republican. He was a colorless leader who climbed up due, probably, friendly attitude to everybody in the Senate. In addition to being an inept leader, he also never dealt with health care expect for some worthless ruminations.
Daschle is not intelligent enough to understand that any Obama health care achievements were started by Hillary Clinton. Hillary may have failed, you typically fail on major change initially, but she lied the ground for future progress.
Good riddance!
